Welcome to Aliaga Paintings

Painter/Architect

Ignacio is from Santiago, Chile. He studied architecture in Santiago, Chile, continued his studies in Madrid, Spain and received his master’s in architecture in Los Angeles, California.

He developed his own architectural practice and served as Planning Commissioner for the City of Lawndale, California.

In 1992 Ignacio was hired to design and manage the construction of a large Canadian compound in Aden, Yemen.

Since 1995 when he moved to Helotes he worked for 3D/International, which eventually became part of Parsons.

He was one of the designers for Hotel Valencia in San Antonio, Texas and Hotel Valencia in San Jose, California. Later on, he designed several hotels in downtown San Antonio such as TownePlace Inn and Suites, Springhill Suites and Summerfield Suites.  Ignacio also led the team that won the design competition of a Chapel for the University Health System Foundation in San Antonio, Texas.

With his own practice he designed the high-rise Homewood Suites in Austin, Hilton Garden Inn and the renovation of the Aiden Hotel in downtown San Antonio.

Ignacio started painting since he was in Spain. His artistic goals are to express experiences of his daily life as he travels as well as to incite a positive reaction, uplift the spirit and be memorable to the viewer.

Ignacio has been influenced by places that he has lived and visited, architects, painters, vernacular architecture, art and music.

Art is not a pre-determined aesthetic or a rigid "signature style." It grows naturally from a quest for ideas and answers. paintings evolve as we work on them.
